HAAN Industrial Group: "Our workforce is relatively senior in terms of knowledge, experience and age. We benefit from this now, but I think about the future: it is important to keep this knowledge and skill within, even when older employees retire. We just didn't really have a plan ready for this. Another complicating factor is that we work a lot with customers or on locations; you can't just send four people there. Via the workplace learning project, we were linked to the Janz consultancy.

Together with Janz, we drew up an inventory: what is the learning requirement and what machines and resources are needed for this? The employees were able to contribute ideas on this. Three complete training plans are now ready: one in the field of mechanical components, one for electrical engineering and one for plc and control technology. This allows us to give all our employees a broader basis. The theory takes place via an evening school, the practice takes place on the job. For the latter, we have collected all kinds of material at our site, from pumps and cylinders to attributes we come across at customers. On Friday afternoons, we practice with all of them. By now, 25 of our 100 employees are already in such a learning process. I notice that it works well, everyone is eager to learn new things. Unfortunately, corona has put it on hold for a while and we have turned to OOM s digital training courses, but as soon as there is space, we will pick it up again immediately."
